June 10 marks the hundredth anniversary of the “Anniversary of Time.” This anniversary was designated and publicized by the Seikatsu Kaizen Domei (Union of Life Improvement) Association and the Tokyo Astronomical Observatory (now the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan) in 1920. The goal was to get people to always be on time.
This year’s event will introduce many valuable clocks, including a precision chronometer the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan used to accurately record and observe the passage of time during that era.
